Vosne-Romanée

Vosne-Romanée is a commune located in the Côte-d'Or department of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region in eastern France. It holds a distinguished reputation within the wine world, particularly for its production of the region's most celebrated wines, exclusively crafted from the Pinot noir grape. The village is widely regarded as a preeminent star in the firmament of the Côte de Nuits, a testament to the exceptional quality of its viticultural output.

Viniculture Excellence

The vineyards of Vosne-Romanée are home to six grand cru sites, a remarkable concentration of prestige. These include the globally renowned Romanée-Conti, a monopole of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, whose wines are among the most expensive in the world and possess remarkable aging potential. Other significant grand crus are La Romanée (a monopole of Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair), La Tâche (another monopole of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, known for its consistent quality), Richebourg, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, and La Grande Rue. Despite the exclusive control of four of the six grand crus by single domains, the village's vineyards are shared by at least forty different growers, contributing to a diverse range of wines.

Wines from Vosne-Romanée are generally characterized by their rich, silky, and well-balanced profiles, exhibiting a complexity that is often said to surpass those of other Burgundy wines. In addition to its grand cru offerings, the village also produces many excellent wines at the village and premier cru levels, with notable premier cru vineyards including Les Gaudichots, Les Malconsorts, Les Suchots, Cros Parantoux, Les Chaumes, and Clos des Réas.
