Abezethibou is a significant demonic figure and fallen angel detailed within the pseudepigraphal text known as the Testament of Solomon. Emerging from traditions that describe the hierarchy and activities of infernal beings, Abezethibou's narrative is intertwined with celestial rebellion and earthly opposition to divine plans.

Celestial Fall and Infernal Role

According to the Testament of Solomon, Abezethibou was once an angel who accompanied Beelzebub in his fall from Heaven. During the War in Heaven, his rebellion against God resulted in the loss of one wing, leaving him a one-winged demon. Within the infernal realm, Abezethibou held a position of considerable importance, often serving as a strategist and advisor to his superior, Beelzebub. He also claimed dominion over all souls imprisoned in Tartarus.

Opposition to Moses and the Exodus

Abezethibou is particularly noted for his direct opposition to Moses and the Israelites during their Exodus from Egypt. He is depicted as having hardened the heart of the Pharaoh and his advisors, thereby inciting them to pursue the fleeing Israelite slaves. Abezethibou further aided the Egyptian sorcerers Jannes and Jambres in their magical confrontations with Moses, claiming to be "the adversary of Moses in [performing] signs and wonders." This role solidified his image as a force actively working against divine liberation.

Downfall and Imprisonment

Abezethibou's actions during the Exodus ultimately led to his demise. He accompanied the Egyptian army in their pursuit and was drowned along with them when the Red Sea collapsed. He became imprisoned within a pillar of water, a fate that seemingly ended his active influence. However, Beelzebub is quoted in the Testament of Solomon as stating that Abezethibou will return for future conquest, suggesting an enduring threat and a prophecy of his eventual reappearance.
