While there is no record of his cultus before the 16th century, Alypius was added to the Roman Martyrology by Pope Gregory XIII in 1584. His feast day is celebrated on August 15. His close association with Augustine and his contributions to the establishment of monasticism in North Africa mark his enduring significance in church history. The Friars of the Augustinian Order and the Canons Regular of St Augustine celebrate joint feast days in his honor.
